| Photobiology
studies the interactions of light with living organisms.
This application encompasses a number of areas including
environmental photobiology, UV photobiology (studying
the effects of ultraviolet radiation on plants,
animals and humans, which has become an urgent concern
of late), and photomedicine
(using light to improve health), to name a few examples.
International Light has designed
several systems that can be used in photomedicine
and environmental photobiology applications.
The IL1750
and IL1450 Plant Growth
Radiometers with PAR detectors are designed to measure
the effect of light on plant growth. They features
the new PAR detector, developed through the combined
efforts of International Light electro-optical engineers
and a team of plant physiologists.
The systems also use optional filters for each individual
plant growth band (TBLU, TRED, & TFRD) for wavelength-specific
research into the photobiological effect of lights
on plants. These optional filters can be incorporated
into an interchangeable system for use with a single
detector, or multiplexed using several detectors
and the A415 Detector Multiplexer. |
