Ultrasonic Clamp On Liquid Flow Meters

Ultrasonic Clamp On Liquid Flow Meter

ABLE offer an extensive range of clamp on, WideBeam ultrasonic liquid flow meters for temporary (portable) or fixed installations. The use of non invasive, ultrasonic flow measurement offers many advantages over intrusive flow metering. With the use of ultrasonic transducers clamped to the outside of pipework, there is no downtime, disruption of flow, or requirement to modify existing pipework.

ABLE also offer installation, maintenance, calibration and consulting services. Ultrasonic liquid flowmeters are available for sale or hire.

Ultrasonic Clamp On Gas Flow Meters

Ultrasonic Clamp On Gas Flow meter

The ABLE range of gas ultrasonic flowmeters measure flow of gases in pipes with clamp on, WideBeam technology. The flow meters can be used to measure the flow of any gas and are particularly suitable for metering erosive, corrosive, toxic, high-purity sterile gases, in any application where penetrating the pipe wall or modifying existing pipework is undesirable.

Installation costs are also significantly reduced over invasive metering technologies. The wide range of gas flowmeters have no wetted or moving parts, require no maintenance, and cause no pressure drop.

Established in 1985, ABLE Instruments & Controls is a leading supplier of ultrasonic flow meters for liquid and gas flow applications. All flow meters are available for sale and short or long term hire.

The use of non-invasive, clamp on ultrasonic flow measurement technology, to measure the flow of conductive and non-conductive liquids and gases, offers easy installation, no pressure drop or energy loss, a wide turndown ratio, and minimal maintenance since the external transducers do not require periodic cleaning.

With the use of ultrasonic transducers clamped to the outside of the pipe, there is no downtime or disruption of flow and no need to cut the pipe or stop the flow to zero the flow meter.

All of ABLE’s ultrasonic flow meters use the patented WideBeam® technology for improved reliability and accuracy under varying flow conditions where other manufacturers lose signal strength or fail completely.

ABLE also offer international installation, maintenance, calibration and consulting services for all flow metering applications. With one of the largest service teams in the UK, ABLE can provide a quick turnaround to mobilize an Engineer to site to get your process up and running. ABLE’s service team are all qualified for offshore applications.

Ultrasonic Flow Meters

ABLE offer Widebeam® ultrasonic clamp on flow meters:-

  • Permanent installation for fixed applications
  • Liquid or gas flow metering applications
  • Portable versions for temporary flow measurement on a range of pipes
  • Hire flow meters for temporary applications without having to buy

Ultrasonic Flowmeter Versions

The competitive technology of ABLE’s clamp on ultrasonic flowmeters provides highly accurate metering of liquids and gases while minimising installation time and maintenance expenses. They are available as configurable systems as well as check metering kits.

Configurable systems

The clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters are available in various product families tailored to the explicit needs of specific applications within the energy, oil, gas and general industries. All families can be configured from a specific list of options to meet customer needs.

The flowmeters are available in dedicated as well as portable versions and come in various configurations, ensuring that there is a solution to virtually any installation and application.

Check Metering Kits

The portable clamp-on ultrasonic check metering kits have been developed especially for use in specific industries or fields of application.

They are available exclusively as all-inclusive kits that come in a carrying case that holds everything needed to conduct performance and verification tests including cables, transducers, a transmitter etc.

Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter

ABLE supply the very latest portable ultrasonic liquid flow meter technology, which can measure liquids up to 230ºC, can be used with most pipe materials and linings and on pipes from 6.4mm to 9140mm diameter. Minimal installation, low cost and no pressure loss make portable ultrasonic flow measurement the best choice for many applications.

The 1010 portable (formerly Controlotron) clamp-on non-intrusive ultrasonic flowmeter offers maximum versatility plus battery power, for portable field use, up to 24 hours. It can operate in either WideBeam® transit time or Doppler mode, making it suitable for virtually any liquid.

The meter is ideal for general flow survey work where high accuracy is required and is available in single and dual channel or dual path configurations.

Dedicated (Fixed) Ultrasonic Flow Meter

The 1010 dedicated meter (formerly Controlotron) is the most versatile clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter available. Because it can operate in either WideBeam® transit time or Doppler mode there is no need to change the meter when operating conditions change. This makes it suitable for virtually any liquid, even those with high aeration or suspended solids. The meter is available in single, dual channel/dual path and optional four channel/four path configurations.

Gas Ultrasonic Flow Meter

The 1010 Gas (formerly Controlotron) clamp-on non-intrusive ultrasonic gas flowmeter is ideal for natural and process gas applications, including checkmetering, allocation, production, storage and gas fired power station applications. The meter is available in single, dual and optional four beam configurations, with your choice of IP65 (NEMA 4X) or IP65 (NEMA 7) and IP66 (NEMA 7) explosion proof enclosures.

Advantages of Clamp on Ultrasonic Flow Meters

  • Non-invasive flow monitoring
  • Measurement of conductive and non-conductive fluids
  • Easily installed clamp on transducers with no interruption to flow
  • Wide range of pipe materials and sizes: 6.4mm - 9140mm
  • Process temperatures from -40°C to 230°C
  • Integrated wall thickness measurement
  • Applications for Ultrasonic Flow Monitoring
  • Ultrasonic flow meters can measure almost all light homogeneous fluids including water, wastewater and hydrocarbons. The basic requirement is that the fluid can conduct ultrasound and have an acceptable axis-symmetrical flow.

Typical applications for Ultrasonic Flow Meters include:

  • Water distribution flowmetering
  • Leak Detection
  • Wastewater flow-metering
  • Building Services
  • Inspection of fixed installation meters
  • Power/Energy Management
  • Chemical / Pharmaceutical
  • Petrochemical
  • Pump inspection
  • Food/Hygienic flow-monitoring
  • Steel
  • Light Industrial
  • Survey work
