Our range of unique, totally non-invasive
ultrasonic flow meters are suitable for use on clean
and dirty liquids with pipe sizes ranging from 6
mm to 10 metres.
Clamp on devices are mounted completely
external to the pipe wall so are not affected by
corrosive or erosive liquids, and are not damaged
by solid, gases or particles in the process liquid.
They are ideal for hygienic applications as they
do not present any potential bug traps and equally
suitable for hazardous chemicals as there are no
potential leak paths.
The meters are virtually maintenance
free, as they have no moving or wetted parts.
The unique operating technology
of this system selects the optimum frequency with
which to transmit the ultrasonic signal through
the pipe.
In effect, the flow meter uses the pipe wall as part
of the transducer thereby reducing the energy required
to transmit the signal and allowing the transducers
to run at a fraction on the voltage of traditional
designs.
The ultrasonic beam is injected
into the pipe so that it travels axially down the
pipe wall, and as it travels it rains
ultrasonic energy across the pipe so as to form
a collimated wide beam pattern on the opposite wall
of the pipe.
Due to the size of this beam even
if the liquid changes the beam always covers the
receive transducer assuring continued operation
of the flow meter regardless of the liquid or changes
in the liquid properties unlike shear mode devices
with are liable to lose measurement under these
circumstances.
High accuracy, better than +/-0.5%
devices are available as well as intrinsically safe
equipment suitable for use in hazardous areas.
