UV Curing

Ultraviolet radiation can induce chemical and or physical changes in certain materials. This ability is used in many applications. These include hardening clear coatings on wood products, curing powdered coatings on metal products, activating adhesives and inks in the graphics industries and selectively etching circuitry in the electronics industry.

Each application has its own curing configuration. Photoreactive products can be made to respond to only a narrow specific band of UV radiation, optimized for the materials optical transmission and absorption properties.

International light makes a full line of UV curing radiometers designed specifically for each application. All radiometers are calibrated to NIST standards in W/cm2 and J/cm
2.

The IL393 UV Uniformity View is designed for through-line conveyor applications. This low profile, extremely rugged dosimeter and irradiance profiler is designed for extremely high energy lamps and production floor environments. The IL393 is optimized for processes with photoactivation in the 300 nm to 400 nm range.

In most graphic applications it is not possible to pass a monitor through the curing system. The Ramp probe has been designed to take spot irradiance measurements in confined environments. The IL1747 and IL1447 curing radiometers include the Ramp probe and appropriate detectors.

The IL1745 research grade UV curing radiometer and the handheld IL1445 curing radiometer feature low profile detectors and can be calibrated with our optional fiber optic probe.
